From January 2020 to April of this year, a record 5 million FIRST-TIME gun owners found the greatness of the 2nd Amendment.
Should we thank the radical Democrats in Congress, Brandon, or the “defund the police” movement for this massive increase in gun ownership? Perhaps the latter is more responsible given the attacks police underwent and how many Americans realized they were responsible for their own safety.
Crime has exploded across the country thanks to leftist policies and Democrat-controlled cities where prosecutors seem to ignore actual crime and are instead focused on people like Missouri’s McCloskey couple and Wisconsin’s Kyle Rittenhouse.
No matter the cause, gun owners are purchasing firearms in record numbers, and it isn’t just “white males” that are doing the purchasing.
If you are a leftist, you might want to sit down for this. Here is what The Guardian reported on the survey released by Matt Miller of Northeastern University,
According to the study, the total number of gun purchases rose from 13.8m to 16.6m between 2019 and 2020. Of those, approximately half of all new gun owners were female and nearly half were people of color.”
Oops, two key demographics that the anti-2nd Amendment crowd had hoped to diminish as caring about firearms are two of the biggest demographics buying them.
Of course, even the guy who conducted the research was lamenting the fact that more Americans are exercising their right to keep and bear arms. Heaven forbid more people are ready to defend themselves.
Here is what Miller said according to The Guardian,
The health consequences of the recent surge in personal and household gun ownership will be borne not only by the US adults who have recently become new gun owners but also by the millions of others who live with them, including an estimated 5 million children who have been newly exposed to household firearms since 2019. There’s a disproportionate increase in exposure to guns among African-American households.”
Well Mr. Miller, you are going to continue to see these numbers increase and you’re also going to see the demographics of who is buying and carrying guns expand.
Citizens are growing weary of our overbearing government. They are growing tired of the increase in crime and will defend themselves when they feel they have no other choice.
We are glad to see more gun owners exercising their right to keep and bear arms and we hope more will do so.
