FBI Reports: Gun Controlled California Ranked Number One In Active Shooter Incidents In 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – According to an FBI report on active shooter incidents in 2021, California led the nation with six active shooters that year despite the state’s glowing reputation among gun control groups for its strict gun laws.

The report, entitled Active Shooter Incidents in the United States in 2021, stated that there were 61 active shooting incidents nationwide in 2021, a 52.5 percent increase from 2020.

“The FBI defines an active shooter as one or more individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area,” the report stated. “Implicit in this definition is the shooter’s use of a firearm. The active aspect of the definition inherently implies the ongoing nature of an incident, and thus the potential for the response to affect the outcome.”

The report also stated that it did not encompass all gun-related shootings and excluded incidents involving self-defense, gang and drug violence, and domestic disputes, among other things.

Noteworthy among the six active shooter incidents that rocked the state was the shooting rampage of 44-year-old Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez, who killed four people, including a 9-year-old boy, on March 31st, 2021 at a business complex in Orange County.

California led the nation in active shooting incidents in 2021 despite being regularly lauded among aggressive gun-control groups such as Giffords and Everytown For Gun Safety for its strict gun control laws.

According to Everytown For Gun Safety, which ranked California as being number one nationally for gun law strength, the Golden State requires background checks, a red flag law, secure storage requirements for firearms, a ban on assault weapons, a regulation on ghost guns, a prohibition on high capacity magazines, prohibitions on violent offenders and convicted domestic abusers from purchasing firearms, and a waiting period before completing a purchase.

Many of the laws already on the books in California are being debated for possible strengthening or implementation by Congress in a flurry of legislative activities set into motion by Democrats in the wake of the mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde.

These include the Protecting Our Kids Act, which passed the House Judiciary Committee last week, the proposed Federal Firearms Licensing Act, which has been read twice by the Senate Judiciary Committee, and possible bi-partisan legislation that a small group of senators is currently hammering out in negotiations.

OUR TAKE

If all the laws in California — arguably the ‘City on a Hill’ of the American left — fail to produce the gun-free utopia that is the fever dream of many a leftist, then what can we expect if Democrats and their RINO cohorts ram through all this new gun control.

Can the nation afford to find out?

No, it can’t. Take a few seconds and write your legislators to tell them that you will not accept any restrictions on your Second Amendment rights. It takes just thirty seconds using the form below, which was provided to us by the American Firearms Association.
