In a not-so-stunning development this Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago, the gangs decided that the bullets must continue to fly.
Over Thanksgiving weekend, 26 people were shot, three fatally in ChIraq….errr Chicago. The three who were shot dead were between the ages of 18 and 35-years-old.
According to ABC 7 in Chicago, some of the non-fatally wounded victims were minors.
What’s interesting is that many of the minors were walking around very late at night. You have to wonder what kids are running around late at night in Chicago instead of being at home?
The ABC 7 reports one of the victims as a 14-year-old, and here is how they described how he got shot:
In nonfatal attacks, a 14-year-old boy was walking about 12:50 a.m. Monday morning in the 1800-block of West 46th Street, when he was shot multiple times, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his arm and legs, police said.”
It was 12:50 a.m. when this kid was shot? Again, why isn’t he at home rather than roaming the streets of the most dangerous city in Chicago?
Something we could be grateful for, I guess, is that this weekend wasn’t as bad as last weekend? Last weekend, 31 total people were shot, and five of them died.
When will the people of Chicago get tired enough of the violence that they will change their course? When will citizens demand more police presence and also begin carrying firearms for their protection?
Will Chicago ever change? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
