Milwaukee Mother Defends Her Two Kids, Fatally Shooting Home Invader

MILWAUKEE, WI – A Milwaukee mother and her children are safe after the mother defended her children by fatally shooting a home intruder on Monday, WTMJ reported.

The mother was showering before work on Monday morning when she heard her two children, ages 12 to 14, screaming from the family’s living room WTMJ reported.

The mother, still wet from the shower, immediately ran into the bedroom, grabbed her gun, and confronted a man she claimed broke into her home.

The woman claimed the man charged her, impervious to her dogs. According to WTMJ, it was then that the mother shot the man. Police said the unidentified man appeared to be in his late 30s and acting erratically.

The mother, who asked not to be named, told WTMJ that she purchased the gun ten years ago after finding a man lying underneath her son’s bed.

One local, Bushraa Rahman, who helped the woman clean up her house after the incident, said the mother acted in self-defense.

“She was scared because her children were there with her. So, she did what any mother would do. She defended her children,” Rahman told WTMJ.

WTMJ reported that police arrested the mother but then released her after several hours of questioning. The mother said that the incident has left her children traumatized and that they intend to move once they find a new place to live.

We reached out to Ben Dorr, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Firearms Coalition, for comment on the shooting. Dorr replied:

This woman deserves the praise of all people and the protection of our system of justice. Good people protect their own. Period. Incidents like this are why thousands of Wisconsinites are demanding their legislators pass Stand-Your-Ground law in Wisconsin — and we’re working hard to make sure it happens. This mom is a hero and Wisconsin law should offer her the protection she deserves.”

OUR TAKE

Normally, we would expound on the moral of the stories we share with you in this section of the article. One isn’t necessary this time because neighbor Bushraa Rahman summed it up perfectly:

“In today’s day and age, with mental health and everything else that’s taking place in the world, I mean, you better protect yourself. To be honest, you have to,” Rahman said.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

  1. God bless this woman and her children, they have a long road ahead to put this disaster behind them, and they will never truly live a life that they feel is completely safe.
Mom gets props for taking out the assailant for good, and the city of Milwaukee gets a big fat zero for not having stand your ground laws, as well as for arresting her and keeping her for several hours. They should have immediately released her upon reviewing the facts at the crime scene. Typical liberal reaction in a liberal city, treat the victim as a criminal, a “guilty until proven innocent” mentality that’s gotta go.

  2. Why the hell was she arrested in the first. Should have been an investigation before any action taken. Did they give her gun back??

  3. I am glad to read she was released after unnecessarily being arrested and detained “several hours”
But why in sam heck was she arrested ? The man was trespassing in her home. She shot him. Unbelievable that they had the gull to arrest her before investigating.
