A 38-year-old Lyft driver in Philadelphia has shot two thugs attempting to carjack him.

Philadelphia is one of the most dangerous cities in America. The murder rate increased dramatically in 2021, and it’s no wonder that people are looking to exercise their right to keep and bear arms even more in 2022.

Just days into 2022 and a Lyft driver was rear-ended while he had a passenger in his car, which turned into an incident he probably was hoping never happened.

Fox29 reported that this is a common tactic in Philly. Carjackers will intentionally bump into your vehicle, causing you to stop and get out. Then, when you exit your car, they strike.

When the driver exited his vehicle, one of the carjackers attempted to take his vehicle and thankfully let the passenger out before trying to take off with the car. The carjacker was armed with a rifle.

While the first carjacker was getting into the vehicle, the Lyft driver pulled out his firearm and then fired several rounds into the getaway vehicle, sending both suspects to the hospital instead of their getaway destination.

Check out this video from Fox29 in Philadelphia from local law enforcement describing the incident:

Hopefully, no punishment comes to the Lyft driver for defending himself. You would think this is an open and shut case of self-defense, but you never know after the McCloskey and Rittenhouse situations.
