Another Idaho School District Allows Armed Staff

Another school district in Idaho has joined the growing number of districts allowing certain staff members to carry firearms on campus.

Under Idaho law, local school boards have the authority to decide whether firearms are permitted on school grounds. While most districts prohibit staff from carrying, relying instead on school resource officers—or having no armed security at all—a few are choosing a different path.

The latest to adopt such a policy is the Kimberly School District (KSD).

Superintendent Luke Schroeder echoed a sentiment long held by many gun rights advocates: if teachers are willing to risk their lives to protect students, they should be equipped with the tools to do so effectively.

Schroeder told MSN,

These people are willing to put their life on the line for students.”

KSD now joins a small but growing list of Idaho districts embracing armed staff policies. Earlier this year, the St. Maries School District implemented a similar measure, and several others across the state have followed suit.
