Police officers doing routine traffic stops can run into some pretty harrowing situations.
When a police officer pulls someone over, they often don’t know who they will encounter. Other times they are on a mission to arrest someone with an outstanding warrant and are more cautious about their approach to those types of traffic stops.
No matter the situation, police are faced with potentially deadly situations, and that is what happened in Florida with several Brevard County sheriff’s deputies.
An incredible news report from ABC 7 in Florida had this astonishing video of an incident where one officer was severely injured, and a suspect was killed after he opened fire on law enforcement. Watch the footage below:
Footage of the incident shows several sheriff’s deputies talking to the occupants of a vehicle. Some of the occupants are outside of the car, and some are still inside of it.
Suddenly, a man exits the pulled over vehicle and starts firing at deputies.
During the shootout, the criminal who began the shooting had gotten behind the deputies and hit one of them in the head with his firearm. When the deputy fell to the ground the criminal hit him several more times, fracturing several bones in the deputy’s face according to the report.
That’s when another deputy on the scene finally empties an entire magazine into the suspect, stopping his violent attack and killing him.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey at a press briefing did not hold back and preempted what he presumed would be some people being upset at how many rounds were fired into the suspect. Here is what Ivey said at the briefing:
Let there be no doubt, this individual got exactly what he deserved. And to those out there who might be foolish enough to ask why he was shot him so many times, that answer is simple, because evil can never be dead enough.”
What do you think about the sheriff’s statement? Do you think the deputy went too far or did the suspect get what he deserved?
