A man in South Carolina was shot and killed after he broke into an apartment.
Police say the man broke into the apartment around 10:30 p.m. The apartment renter shot the man after he said a man kicked his apartment door in.
Investigators have now closed the case and will not file charges, saying the man in the apartment acted in self-defense. South Carolina has a Castle Doctrine and has no duty to retreat.
The deceased man, who died at the hospital from his wounds, has not been named at the time of this writing.
