West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey signed three pro-gun bills into law this legislative session.
One piece of legislation was HB 2067, which ensures that firearm manufacturers are not held liable for the illegal actions of an individual. Gun grabbers are using lawfare to target gun manufacturers, so this type of legislation is great for red states to pass.
HB 3343 ensures that banks that do business with the state do not discriminate against a firearm entity or a trade association that deals with firearms. This is another avenue where gun control advocates have started pushing banks to target gun owners and manufacturers.
Finally, SB 270 prohibits the state government from restricting firearms during times of declared emergencies or disasters. Many states passed this type of legislation after Hurricane Katrina and others right after COVID-19.
Morrisey said in a press release about the legislation:
As Governor, I will always support and defend West Virginians’ God-given constitutional rights.” The bills I signed today further enshrine West Virginia’s strong support for the Second Amendment. Thank you to the legislature for working with me to get this done.”
