U.S. Surgeon General Says U.S. Has “Gun Violence Epidemic”

The U.S. surgeon general has decided that “firearm violence” (not a real thing) is an “epidemic.”

Gun owners warned this was coming after Covid. It was only a matter of time before the government just decided that there was an “emergency” or “epidemic” with people who either use firearms to harm others or themselves, and that’s where we are.

Gun control advocates have been calling it an epidemic for years, even though the vast majority of firearm-related deaths are by suicide, and most murders with firearms are contained to a handful of counties (usually with big Democrat-run cities).

Dr. Vivek Murthy issued the advisory earlier today.

Murthy posted a thread on X (formerly Twitter) and a video about his advisory. The first post in his thread says:

NEW: Today, for the first time in the history of our office, I am issuing a Surgeon General’s Advisory on Firearm Violence. Firearm violence is a public health crisis in America that poses a serious threat to the health and well-being of our country.”

But what is not surprising is a stat from Murthy’s video and how he and the gun control crowd twist stats to fit their narrative.

For instance, his entire advisory is about “firearm violence.” During the video, Murthy says that 54% of adults report that they have experienced a “firearm-related incident.”

What does Murthy say is an incident?

1. Someone who has been threatened with a firearm or injured by one.
2. Lost someone to a shooting (presumably homicide or suicide).
3. Someone who witnessed a shooting.
4. Someone who used a firearm in self-defense.

Do you see what they are doing?

The narrative is that guns are bad, and it’s becoming a huge crisis, but then they use self-defense or someone who just sees a shooting as proof of their epidemic.

And this is what the gun control crowd has done for decades. They use made-up or extremely twisted stats to try and put a square in a round hole.

Gun Owners of America blasted the surgeon general for the decision and even called out his lie when he had previously told Congress that he wouldn’t be focused on firearms for the job.

In the video shared by GOA, the video is from Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) who asked Murthy point blank:

Do you think guns present a public health emergency?”

Murthy responded that it wasn’t an issue he would be focused on. Instead, he was going to focus on Covid and other health issues.

In other words, Murthy lied.

Gun grabbers were quick to pounce on the lies and are using them to push for more gun control.

Ironically, even though the gun control crowd is happy about this fake “epidemic,” they are also trying to claim that violence across the U.S. is down and that everything is fine.

Sorry, gun grabbers, you don’t get to have it both ways.
