New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY – 21) is asking Attorney General Pam Bondi to look into the state’s gun control laws.
This comes as the DOJ is already investigating reports in Los Angeles County of concealed carry permits taking too long to be approved. The DOJ had previously announced that it would investigate Second Amendment issues across the country.
Stephanik said, along with fellow Republican New York Congresswoman (NY – 24), in a press release, in part,
I write to you to urge the Department of Justice to investigate New York State’s infringement of New Yorkers’ Second Amendment rights and ensure that these rights are upheld for all citizens by taking the appropriate action to remedy these infringements. New York State has enacted and enforced a sweeping regime of laws that infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of its citizens, in direct defiance of precedent set by the Supreme Court and the Constitution. This is unacceptable, and law-abiding gunowners must be protected.”
Will the Trump DOJ open investigations into multiple states? Time will tell.
