California Wants Background Checks for…Barrels

California is seeking to become the first state to implement barrel background checks.

No, that’s not a typo. California is now pushing Senate Bill 704 to prevent criminals from obtaining a chunk of metal.

The barrel isn’t a firearm, obviously. It’s a paperweight by itself.

Gun owners have warned for decades that the end game for the gun control crowd is to ban everything related to firearms. Gun control advocates said it was not true, and they just wanted “common sense” gun control. We knew it was a lie.

SB 704 is just another example of why you do not give an inch to the gun control crowd.

The summary for the bill says in part,

“Commencing on July 1, 2026, this bill would, except as specified, prohibit the sale or transfer of a firearm barrel, as defined, unless the transaction is completed in person by a licensed firearms dealer.”

Sadly, Republicans are too small in number to stop this legislation, which is likely going to head to the courts.
